Hyundai 95440-AA000 smart key: which Elantra does it fit?
Last updated
95440-AA000 is Hyundai's OEM smart key for the Elantra built with push-button start, from the 2021 model year. Its FCC ID is NYOMBEC5FOB2004 and it transmits on 433.92 MHz.
Every 2021 Elantra VIN Partexia checked takes it, and no other key: 9 of 9. Most 2022 and 2023 Elantras do too, but not all of them: 11 of 13, and 39 of 42.

Which vehicles does 95440-AA000 fit?
The Hyundai Elantra with push-button start, from the 2021 model year: every 2021 checked, and most 2022s and 2023s.
| Vehicle | VINs checked | Took this key |
|---|---|---|
| 2021 Hyundai Elantra | 9 | All 9 |
| 2022 Hyundai Elantra | 13 | 11 of 13 |
| 2023 Hyundai Elantra | 42 | 39 of 42 |
A VIN counts as taking 95440-AA000 when the OEM parts fitment check for that VIN gave this smart key and no other key. The VINs are the ones Partexia checked between July and October 2026.
The two 2022 Elantras that did not take it took a different smart key. The three 2023s took a folding remote key instead of a smart key. Same model, same year, a different key: that is why the VIN matters more than the year.
The 2024 Elantra VINs Partexia checked, 29 of them, all took a different smart key, not this one.
Why some 2021-2023 Elantras take a different key
Because the Elantra was built with two kinds of key. Hyundai's owner's manual lists both a "Remote Key (if equipped)", a folding key, and a "Smart Key (if equipped)".
Hyundai's service campaign notes for the 2022-2023 Elantra say the SEL, Blue, N Line, N and Limited trims came with smart keys, while the SE trim came with remote keys. The smart key is the one with push-button start.
The VIN tells you which one a car was built with. Partexia reads it and shows the exact OEM key.
How to tell if an Elantra takes 95440-AA000
Start with the car and the old key, then confirm with the VIN.
- Look for a START/STOP button. This is a smart key: the car starts with the button while the key stays in a pocket. An Elantra with a key you turn takes a folding remote key instead.
- Count the buttons. Five: lock, unlock, trunk, remote start and panic, as on the fob in the FCC filing. Hyundai's service bulletin lists the Elantra and Elantra Hybrid smart key as 5 buttons plus remote start.
- Read the FCC ID on the old fob. It should be NYOMBEC5FOB2004. A different FCC ID means a different fob.
The surest check is the VIN. Scan it in Partexia and see the OEM key that car was built with.
Before you order 95440-AA000
- Order a new one. Hyundai's service bulletin says that after pairing, a smart key cannot be paired to another vehicle, so a fob taken from another Elantra is not a spare.
- Plan the programming. Hyundai saves the new key's code to the car with its scan tool, and the owner's manual says a maximum of two smart keys can be registered to one vehicle.
- Mind the mechanical key. It works the driver's door when the fob does not. In Hyundai's own campaign, the second fob was handed out without a mechanical key, so check that one comes with the fob you order.
Partexia gives you the part number for the VIN. Programming is a separate step, with your tool or at the dealer.
